RAIN SONG
© 1974 Words & Music by R.Morse
Sometimes I sit and I stare through the rain
it’s blinding
People don’t change they all stay the same
I’m finding
On with the rain the wind cries her name
though dying
Fury so cold she lashes out bold
I’m finding, I’m finding
Find it hard to summarize
the feelings that are in my eyes
I know its not the rain I see
its just the thoughts that come to me
They come to me
Surging with rage the torrents engage
their timing
Glazing the earth with beauty and birth
the Rain Song
Possessing my eyes with unbroken ties
the rain’s gone
Piercing the air with brilliance so fair
the sun calls
She calls, She calls….
Beaming so bright while leading the night
the sun falls
SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN
Words & Music by J.A. Willoughby
© 2003 Swinging From The Trees Music (ASCAP)
Well, I’ve always known
So it’s nothing new
There’s a light that shines that I could never see
It was always there
It was always you
How could I have been so blind?
There’s never been a day I haven’t tried to find a way
To keep from going ‘round in circles
I found that what I lost was less than what I gained
Since you’ve given me a purpose
I’ve got something to believe in
Each and every day
Yeah, you helped me find my way
I’ve got something to believe in
And I knew that it was right when I saw you in that light
I was such an angry man
You could have walked away
But you stayed and took me by the hand
Such a simple thing
You were offering
And I walked away a changed man

THE WIND
Words & Music by Dave Sayward
She walks like the wind
She flies past my windowpane
And my senses spin
like standing in the summer rain.
CHORUS
We go back a ways
I don't remember when she arrived
And we haven't changed
and I'm so glad we both survived
And she works so hard
to try and find a better way
And she's going far
with a strength that is here to stay
CHORUS
No one takes your place
in the center of my heart.
I can feel it race
emptiness when we're apart
And she works so hard
to try and find a better way
And she's going far
with a strength that is here to stay
Should I ask her now
how well I know she won't say yes
But I know somehow
if she should I wouldn't have to guess
CHORUS
She walks like the wind
she flies past my windowpane
And my senses spin
like standing in the summer rain
standing in the summer rain
standing in the summer rain
ELF SONG
Words & Music by R. Morse ©1975
I know a place where the elves often go
Over the mountains in the valley bellow
Theres a stream that gurgles and flows down around
The elves all make merry with the slightest of sound
Laughing and singing as the sun she climbs high
They frolic beneath a blue laden sky
Tiring often they lay down to sleep
Cloaked in their greenery with boots on their feet
CHORUS
Oh, I know
over the mountains in the valley below
Oh, I know
over the mountains in the valley below
Over the mountains in the valley below
Over the mountains in the valley below
Rising at sunset they know they must go
For the sky it darkens in the valley below
When the stars have awakened and captured the sky
The elves have departed till morning arrives
CHORUS
RORSCHACH
Words & Music by J.A. Willoughby
© 1999 Swinging From The Trees Music (ASCAP)
Time waits for no one
and ultimately - stops
Time wastes for no man
and no man’s an island, so said
Everyone you love is planting flowers you won’t see
Giving you a very colorful eternity
You thought you’d last forever
Tell me that now
Lay down with dignity
I wait for no one
and see if they find me
Easy to follow rules all
that the day is made for
I didn’t tell you
Trouble’s ‘round the corner
Outside your head cries
“What do I do?”
Why don’t you and I won’t say you’re bad
Simple minds, they kill what they don’t know they have
WANDRIN' LADY
Words & Music by Dave Sayward
Cigarettes in the dark by the river
Ponder your life away
Long walks in the park
can't chase those blues away
I know what you need I'm a man
who just wants to be with you
You should know this
now I have my demons too
I love the way you think
the light in your eyes
when you're on the brink
I love the way you smile when you know
I'm only teasing
I love your resolve
I know you've made up your mind
Forever in my heart
you'll be there til the end of time
Walk with me Lady
I shall not fail
Walk with me Lady
Onward we sail
I love the way you think
the light in your eyes
when you're on the brink
I love the way you smile when you know
I'm only teasing
I love your resolve
I know you've made up your mind
Forever in my heart
you'll be there til the end of time
FOREST FLOOR
©1971 Words & Music by R. Morse
As I lie here on this forest floor, leaving reality
The heavens come down and touch my face
and I dream of what’s to be
I can’t help but feeling down, oh, oh, oh
Because I need her, and I want her, cause I love her
Because I need her, and I want her, cause I love her
The wood is dark, the night grows fast
The sun’s reflected light
shines on my past
I feel her presence at my side, disillusion cannot die
Because I need her, and I want her, cause I love her
Because I need her, and I want her, cause I love her
Love exists through all realms of light
SHE SINGS IT TO THE SUN
© 1975 Words & Music by R. Morse
A new day has awakened
The morning mist awaits the sun
The flowers all exalt in their passions
As the crimson sunlight crests them one by one
CHORUS
And the Mother Cardinal sings it to the sun
And her song is just a sign of whats to come
And the Mother Cardinal sings it to the sun
Un-sensed the crimson turns to gold
As the life bearing source it climbs so bold
Silently the mist eludes the day
As its progress constitutes its aging way
The sun has streaked across a still blue sky
The crimson light again it fills my eyes
The flowers all retract in swift reply
As the sun it sinks and succumbs unto the night
And the Mother Cardinal knows the time is right
So she sings her song of praise unto the night
And the Mother Cardinal awaits the mornin’ light
CHORUS REPEATS
GHOSTS
Copyright 2022 Swinging From The Trees Music (ASCAP)
Words & Music by J.A. Willoughby
So many memories, so many years
Familiar phantoms have all disappeared
Calling
Beneath pinpoints of starlight
Life’s stories were told
Emboldened adventures await to unfold
In darkness till morning recovered
We wondered, we wandered
As Echoes resounded in earth covered walls
Sounds of the summers
Remained through the Falls
Calling
Silently walking the lane on the morrows
Remaining in close step year after year
in darkness till all of the ghosts
Reappear, calling, calling
